Mistfall Hunter Stuttering & FPS Fix (PC)

If Mistfall Hunter hitches every few seconds or stutters on the first minute of each raid, you're almost certainly hitting shader compilation or a settings mismatch — not a broken install. Here's the order of fixes that actually works.
What causes the stutter
Most reports are shader-related: the engine compiles shaders on first encounter with an effect, which shows up as a hitch the first time you see a spell, boss, or zone. A one-time warmup usually clears it. True sustained low FPS is a different problem (settings or hardware) and needs the settings pass below.
First-launch shader warmup
- Let the game sit on the first load screen / menu for a minute — background shader work often finishes there.
- Play a safe solo raid or two rather than jumping straight into PvPvE; the early hitches will bank themselves away.
- If you verify or reinstall the game, expect the warmup to happen again once.
Settings that help
- Lower shadow quality and global illumination first. These are the usual FPS killers in Unreal-engine titles and barely change gameplay readability.
- Drop effects / foliage density if you're in a busy PvPvE fight and still dipping.
- Use resolution scaling (render below native, upscale) instead of dropping full resolution — sharper result for the same FPS gain.
- Cap the frame rate a touch above your monitor's refresh if you see micro-stutter from uncapped frames.
Driver & Windows fixes
- Update your GPU driver to the latest Game Ready / Adrenalin release.
- Disable fullscreen optimization on the executable and run it as administrator if alt-tab stutter is bad.
- Turn on Game Mode and make sure the game is on an SSD — streaming from a slow drive causes periodic hitches.
When it's a crash, not a stutter
If the game closes to desktop instead of hitching, that's a fatal-error class issue — verify game files through the platform client first, then check for overheating or a corrupted shader cache you can clear via the client's repair option.
